MARTIN COVARRUBIAS SALAZAR
Domestic Violence Facilitator / Assessor
Licensed Clinical Pastoral Therapist
Martin Covarrubias Salazar is a seasoned mental health professional, transformative community leader, and advocate for justice whose work is rooted in both personal experience and professional expertise. For over 18 years, Martin has dedicated his life to helping individuals and families—particularly in under-resourced communities—heal from trauma, break cycles of violence, and rebuild lives grounded in dignity, accountability, and hope.
A first-generation immigrant Martin was raised in Los Angeles, California, where the odds were stacked heavily against him from the beginning. His early life was marked by systemic poverty, addiction, domestic violence, physical and emotional abuse, and recurring brushes with death. As a teenager, Martin struggled with substance use, lived in survival mode, and became entangled in the very social conditions that many young men of color never escape.
But Martin’s story did not end in tragedy. Through the grace of God, the compassion of mentors, and a relentless inner transformation, he began a journey that would not only save his life—but change the lives of countless others. He turned his pain into purpose, his struggle into strength, and his past into a powerful platform for service and advocacy.
Now based in Central Florida, Martin is a Licensed Clinical Pastoral Therapist and a highly respected Domestic Violence Facilitator. He holds a Master’s degree in Christian Counseling and is a current doctoral candidate in Counseling and Psychology. His work seamlessly integrates evidence-based mental health practice with faith-informed, culturally responsive approaches—bridging the gap between clinical treatment and the spiritual, emotional, and social realities of the communities he serves.
Martin has spent nearly two decades working at the vital crossroads of justice, mental health, and community transformation. His professional background includes extensive experience in individual and group counseling, court-mandated intervention programs, restorative justice circles, and the development of trauma-informed, gender-responsive curricula. He is particularly passionate about serving individuals who are court-ordered to attend Batterers Intervention Programs (BIPs), providing them with a space to confront patterns of violence, develop emotional literacy, and take full responsibility for their actions.
As a group facilitator, Martin brings unparalleled authenticity, empathy, and firmness to his sessions. Martins lived experience, coupled with his clinical knowledge and spiritual insight, allows him to connect deeply with people who are often resistant to change or misunderstood by traditional systems. He believes firmly in accountability—not punishment—and in the human capacity for transformation.
In alignment with his mission to extend healing beyond traditional settings, Martin founded Transformational Behavior Solutions LLC, a counseling and consulting practice devoted to helping individuals and families overcome mental health challenges through a client-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally competent lens. The organization’s mission is to promote lasting transformation by equipping clients with the tools, insights, and support they need to lead fulfilling and emotionally healthy lives. Grounded in compassion and evidence-based care, its motto—“Healing Minds. Transforming Lives.”—reflects Martin’s lifelong commitment to walking alongside those in need of hope and healing. Through this platform, Martin continues to expand his reach, offering services and resources that make healing accessible, empowering, and culturally relevant. His work is known for being accessible, culturally grounded, and rooted in restorative principles that aim not just to stop harm—but to heal its origins.
Today, Martin Covarrubias Salazar is more than a clinician and facilitator—he is a living example of what is possible when faith, purpose, and perseverance intersect. His life and work serve as a bridge between despair and hope, brokenness and healing, silence and transformation.

SUSAN TANNENBAUM
Certified Batterers Intervention and
Anger management Facilitator
For more than 40 years, Susan has dedicated her career to helping people heal, grow, and become the best versions of themselves. She draws from her decades of experience in body-based healing work, first as a massage therapist, then as a chiropractor and always as a transformational practitioner. This unique background gives her a more holistic understanding of how stress, emotions, trauma, and physiology affect human behavior.
As a facilitator with A Better Man Project/A Better Woman Project, Susan helps participants develop greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and personal responsibility. She believes that lasting change is possible when individuals are willing to honestly examine their beliefs, behaviors, and the impact they have on others.
Susan understands that meaningful change involves more than simply modifying behavior. It requires the courage to challenge long-held patterns that no longer serve us in order to step into something new and healthy. She believes that every person is both capable and deserving of growth, and works toward having them be willing to combine honesty with accountability. Her passion is helping people move beyond destructive patterns by discovering the strength, character, and self-respect that come from living in alignment with their values.
Known for her direct yet compassionate style, Susan creates an environment where participants feel challenged yet supported. They become empowered by the meaningful changes they choose to make. She helps them see how accountability and personal growth go hand in hand, and that true strength is demonstrated through self-awareness, integrity, and the willingness to change.
Ultimately, Susan’s work focuses not only on ending harmful behaviors but on helping individuals build lives grounded in self-awareness, accountability, and integrity. She believes that real transformation occurs when people align their actions with their values, and that the courage to change can become the foundation for healthier relationships, stronger communities, and a more meaningful life.
